Why do we need a new Pavilion?

The existing wooden Pavilion was built more than 40 years ago and the adjoining two-floor brick building was added in the 1990s to provide shower and changing facilities for users of the sports pitches.

Unfortunately, both buildings are now in a poor state of repair and don’t meet modern environmental standards – particularly on energy conservation. In cold weather, the heating has to be left on permanently to ensure the pipes don’t freeze. As a result, the Pavilion is very expensive to run. Its current layout also limits how it can be used for social and community events.

Both the East Leake Playing Fields charity, which runs the sports ground, and East Leake Parish Council believe that replacing the existing wooden building with a new Pavilion is the best way of creating a facility which is fit for the future. The brick building will be refurbished at the same time.
